Aim 7: Prioritizing safety and health of all employees
Health and safety is our top priority, and we believe all fatalities,
injuries and occupational hazards are preventable. Through strong safety leadership, we can
create and maintain safe workplaces for all our people. Our safety culture empowers every
individual to take responsibility for their own safety as well as for the safety of their
colleagues and the communities in which they work. We at Vedanta believe that safety is a
value that is paramount and in line with our safety related ethos, initiatives like right to
refuse, driver management center etc. have been undertaken keeping in mind the needs &
necessity of all workers.
We routinely assess our safety performance–by benchmarking our practices
with peers, with an eye to build a best-in-class safe workplace for our employees and
contract workers.
Management Performance in Occupational Health & Safety

A comprehensive Group-level HSE policy and several safety standards are in place to ensure health
and safety are embedded as a value across our operations. The company undertakes several actions to
enhance the safety culture of the organization. These include:
- Focus on “Critical Risk Management” to reduce hazardous activities at site
- Launch of cross business audits to ensure best safety practices are transferred across BUs
- On-boarding of a specialized safety agency to improve the safety culture at all BUs and their
leadership teams
- Implementation and horizontal deployment of fatality learning across Vedanta, led by our
business CEOs
