Tracing the roots of humble beginnings
The story of Anil Agarwal is one of a dreamer who made his dreams come true through sheer hard work and determination.
Born in a small village in India, Anil Agarwal did not let his humble beginnings limit his achievements.
At the age of 19, he left home with a tiffin box, bedding, and dreams in his eyes for Mumbai, the City of Dreams. He was set on carving his own niche in the rich history of the city by starting his own company.
In his initial years, he tried his luck with nine different businesses, but all failed, and he was struggling to make ends meet. With the trademark determination that has been his hallmark throughout his life, he started his tenth attempt.
When his venture of cable production picked up pace, he never looked back – quickly expanding into manufacturing of copper and aluminium, and giving birth to the behemoth that it is today - Vedanta.
His journey from being a metal trader to one of the top global leaders is an inspiration.
